Lady killer turns out a woman

A 40-year-old woman was strangled by her neighbour and associate at Yelahanka on Friday. The Yelahanka police have traced and arrested the accused and recovered the stolen jewellery.

The murder accused was identified as Lakshmidevamma. On Thursday evening 40-year-old Subbalakshmamma was found murdered near Yelahanka lake. Few passersby had noticed the body and informed the police.

Subbalakshmamma’s husband Redappa who works in a weaving factory had registered a complaint with the police on Friday evening stating that his wife who had gone to attend a devi pooja with their neighbour Lakshmidevamma was missing; but later found out that the neighbour was at home.

Redappa was later called by the police to identify a body found near the Yelahanka lake. Redappa identified the body to be Subbalakshamma.

Following his complaint, Lakshmidevamma was brought for interrogation, when questioned about the scratches on her neck, she confessed to have committed the crime with the help of her friend Ravi Teja (20) , a a petty shop keeper in the neighbourhood.

Yelahanka police said that Lakshmidevamma had convinced Subbalakshmamma that if she performs a devi pooja near Yelahanka lake, all her wishes would come true. Believing the same, Subbalakhsmamma had gone to Yelahanka lake where Ravi Teja strangled her escaped with the gold jewels she was wearing.

Ravi Teja was allegedly demanding Rs 5,000 from Lakshmidevamma, as she couldn’t pay him, she had planned to kill her neighbour and get the money by selling her jewels. Police have arrested the duo and have recovered gold ornaments from Lakshmidevamma’s residence.
